1) A function is often described as a machine as it consists of an input and output.
An example of a function:
f(x)=x^2 (Where y=x^2)
So if x=2,
f(2)=4
So an input of 2, gives an output of 4.
2) y is dependent on x.
3) Yes. There is a relationship between x and y in which if x changes, y changes too.
